Experimental astrophysicist with a background in geophysics, graduated from ETH Zürich (MSc & PhD). Over 15 years of teaching experience, project development and team management in the higher education/research sector. Skilled in problem solving, data analysis & visualisation, programming, public speaking, foreign languages and mentoring/career development.I study galaxy formation and evolution via multi-wavelength imaging and spectroscopy of large data sets from cosmological survey fields. My research addresses the following questions: • How does the composition and appearance of galaxies change over time? • What happens during galaxy interactions and mergers? • How does gas cycle in and out of galaxies? How is it converted to stars inside them?My daily data analysis work involves: resampling techniques (MCMC), censored data (survival/failure time analysis), image processing & analysis (satellite- & ground-based observatories; single-dish telescopes & interferometers), quantifying selection biases and identifying appropriate reference samples/populations to facilitate robust hypothesis testing.
