About Mintu Turakhia Md Ms

- Internationally recognized cardiac electrophysiologist, researcher, executive, and leader in digital health and heart rhythm care. - Trained in computer science, medicine, biostatistics, and clinical research, with over 25 years of experience in patient care, outcomes research and trials, data science and artificial intelligence, medical device regulation, and the creation and commercialization of digital health products.- Founding Director of the Stanford Center for Digital Health, started in 2015, where I led a large multidisciplinary research program in heart rhythm disorders, real-world evidence, clinical trials, and digital health. I've led several large-scale trials of digital health tools and wearables for heart disease, including as co-principal investigator of the landmark Apple Heart Study, enrolling over 400,000 participants, and published in the New England Journal of Medicine. - For 14 years was Chief of EP at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where I continue to treat patiens and perform ablations and device implantation.- Have led teams to build and commercialize software-enabled remote patient monitoring platforms and electronic health record AI-guided knowledge extraction tools, most recently as Head of Medical with 100Plus (acquired by Connect America) and as co-founder of Evidently.- Fellow of AHA, ACC, HRS; elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation. Authored over 300 publications and has received over $50 million in research funding as principal investigator.Recipient of the 2022 Rock Health Digital Health Luminary Award and Top 50 in Digital Health Award. - Over the last 20 years, several dozen leadership and clinical practice guideline author roles in the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and European Society of Cardiology. He was the Founding Chair of HRX 2022, a new clinical and industry meeting by HRS dedicated to remote patient monitoring and cardiovascular diagnostics. Remains a trustee of the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology and member of the American Heart Association Health Technology Advisory Committee.

Developed shared care pathways and protocols for coordinated nurse practitioner arrhythmia care with long-distance patients and cardiology programs in Fresno, Las Vegas, Reno, and Sacramento. Integrated VA EP program into Stanford EP fellowship training program. Established VA arrhythmia service as an enrolling center for 5 multi-center studies for patients with atrial fibrillation and implanted devices. Developed AF ablation and left atrial appendage closure programs. Worked with local and national VA leaders to develop care pathways for atrial fibrillation. Decreased procedural complication rates to below expected and among the lowest in the VA system. Disseminated best practices as a national leader in VA system and chaired VA national electrophysiology meeting in 2014. Recruited 7 EP faculty and 7 EP nurse practitioners since inception.
