Several promising active materials are being used or are underdevelopment. Due to progressive cost pressure, all other components of the cells (separator, binder,electrolytes) are also subjected to a permanent optimization process. One possible optimization step is the spinning of separators by fine polymer fibers, which is to be achieved by electrospinning. In this technique, the strong electric fields in a range of 100 – 500 kV/m are used to synthesis the fibers in the micro- to nanometer range between a metallic needle and a counter electrode.As a part of the thesis, experimental techniques for the spinning of polyolefin-materials shall be developed. Influence factors as polymer concentration (viscosity), applied voltage and ambient conditions are to be investigated. Subsequently, the materials are characterized both optically (light microscope, SEM) and mechanically. The main focus of the optical characterization is on the degree of wetting and its influencing factors. Show less
