Co-Chairing the North Richmond Precinct Community Committee

This project aims to contribute to Victoria's social and affordable housing strategy by constructing 1,100 new homes through a combination of debt and equity investment by CHL. The program will deliver over 600 new social housing homes, 126 new affordable dwellings, and 365 market rental dwellings, including 52 specialist disability dwellings. As debt is paid down, returns from the market rents will drive the growth of further social housing. The project will be designed by Melbourne-based architectural practices and will provide an integrated mix of social, market rental, affordable, and specialised disability housing. The initiative will see the redevelopment of three metropolitan Melbourne housing sites by the Building Communities consortium, through a special purpose vehicle, Building Communities (Vic) Ltd (BCVL). BCVL will be provided with a 40-year operating lease, whilst Homes Victoria retains ownership of the portfolio. The project accesses public and alternative financing sources, including the NHFIC, and leverages the expertise, innovation, and financial strength of the private and not-for-profit sectors, with CHL as Australia's leading community housing provider being a key partner.

Youngest(?) Committee member in the group, representing local community. Led by two Co-Chairs - former Victoria Police Commissioner, Ken Lay AO APM and localresident and former Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority Cheryl Batagol PSM, the committee will have a lead role in establishing an overarching long-term vision for North Richmond. The committee overlooks a recently announced $9 million towards precinct improvements, including $3 million to support projects identified in partnership with the local community. The committee will also advise on opportunities to build local skills and nurture community leadership.

Leading the group as a co-chair representing the community, that aims to ensure that North Richmond residents and community members have access to inclusive services and initiatives that improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing, and that local people have the skills, capabilities, and opportunities to participate in local decision making and are empowered to lead change.
