Senior Guidance Counselor Houston, TexasDuties: Supervises the Army Liaison Office consisting of six military and two civilians in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS); responsible for enlisting over 225 newly soldiers monthly from 43 recruiting stations; liaison for commanders from 60 Army Reserve units covering all the units in Southeast Texas; reviews each applicant’s mental moral and physical qualifications to assure they meet recruiting standards; selects optimum MOS for enlistment based on the Army’s need and the applicant’s interests; initiates and process incentive contracts of up to $30,000 per qualified enlistee; responsible for equipment valued at $150,000 dollarsFirst Sergeant/Senior Human Resource Adviser Tyler, TexasDuties: Supervised 7 Regular Army USAREC branch offices (working with 3 MEP stations) that consisted of 33 employees and a fleet of 32 vehicles valued at 500,000 dollars spread over 14,064 square miles in East Texas located 212 miles from Houston Battalion Headquarters. Duties included marketing, applicant processing, enlistment procedures, leads management, accessioning procedures, reviewing efficiency and effectiveness of manpower data. Use of training resources, policy implementation, compliance of directives and regulations. Determines the effectiveness of morale and discipline, economy of operation, USAREC plans adequacy and law compliance. Maintains quantitative, statistical techniques and methods, analytical data for resource and training programs and initiatives for the improvement of organizational productivity. Prepared briefings and presentations of findings to commanders and civilian leadership at all levels. Efforts and guidance increase produced 8 percent in FY 01, 34% in FY 02, and maintained 100% mission accomplishment in FY 03. Selected as the Top First Sergeant for achieving 100% mission accomplishment for FY 03 in Houston District out of 6 Recruiting Company.
