West Region

As the VA/DoD TRICARE Liaison for the West Region, I assist with all collaboration and coordination between VA, TRICARE Regional Office, Defense Health Agency, and all managed care support contractors providing care for veterans and active duty service members with TRICARE. I oversee all VA/DoD sharing agreements and Joint Ventures, as well as billing issues with the Chief Business Office, Memorandums of Understanding, and healthcare contracts for dental, vision, primary and specialty care. It is also my responsibility to encourage government health care sharing between Defense Health Agency, DoD and the VA in the West Region; particularly in the Enhanced Multi Service Markets where both VA and DoD reside. Increasing sharing opportunities increases productivity and clinical currency for DoD, maximizes tax payer dollars by decreasing health care, prescription, and durable medical equipment costs, and increases continuity of care for active duty service members transitioning to veteran status. Finally, I work with the Medical Sharing Office and the Office of Integrated Health Affairs to advise on legislation updates and implementation such as the Veterans Choice, Access, and Accountability Act.

Greater Los Angeles Va Health System

As the Outpatient Clinic Operations Manager for Health Administration Services, I was responsible for the administration and coordination of all Outpatient Clinics for the entire Greater Los Angeles Health System along with its 190 Medical Support Assistants, Lead Medical Support Assistants, Supervisory Medical Support Assistants, and Managers. I oversee outpatient administration at seven community based outpatient clinics, the main hospital, and four contract clinics. In addition to outpatient clinic operations management, I am involved in the System Redesign and Management of the Compensation and Pension section, and have acted as Health Administration Service Chief in her absence. I also constructed and launched the first centralized VoIP call center for the Greater Los Angeles VA Health System, bringing the two worst phone systems in the nation to within URAC standards.

During my tenure as a Supervisory Medical Administration Specialits, I managed multiple areas in health administration including decedent affairs, specialty and primary care clinic operations, eligibility and benefits, enrollment, the emergency department and admissions, call center operations, outreach and Transition Assistance Programs, and State Vet Home accreditation.

I was the Business Process Analyst and retail auditor for 26 retail locations in Nevada, Arizona and California with a 100% corporate audit pass rate.
