Kabuyanda Irrigation Earthdam project is one of the Irrigation for Climate Resilience Projects (SZU001) funded by the World Bank in Isingiro district, Uganda. The Embankment dam shall be constructed on the Mishumba River, one of the tributaries of River Katonga in Kabuyanda Sub-county in Isingiro district. When constructed, the man-made lake (reservoir) shall impound 8.8million cubics of water draining an area of 90sq. km and the irrigation system shall be able to supply upto 3300 hectares The project scope comprises of a 33m high embarkment dam, head works and access roads. The dam construction comprises of concrete structures i.e spillway, intake barrel, desilting channel, control building approximating to approx. 20,000 CUM of concrete. Dam instrumentation shall be installed to monitor the structural integrity of the dam.A detailed scope of the project activities involve;i) dam construction and associated head works; (ii)construction of irrigation networks (pipes, canals, hydro-mechanical equipment) up to the farm gate; (iii)construction of drainage networks; (iv) construction of access and scheme roads; (v) construction ofscheme offices, sanitation facilities, and storage facilities; (vi) construction of weather stations; (vii)consultancy services to prepare feasibility studies, detailed designs and safeguard instruments forirrigation schemes; (viii) consultancy services to monitor and control civil works; (ix) consultancy servicesin support of management of irrigation schemes; (x) consultancy services for environmental assessmentsand audits and implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP).

Working as a site Engineer with the responsibility of overseeing and implementing residential development project on approx. 20,235 square meters of land worth $3m. It also required reclaiming land which affected by the rising Lake Victoria levels. This involved dredging and using gabions as a method to reclaim the lost land.

Took part in the prefeasibility and feasibility studies of the 4.82MW Hydropower project from Topographical survey, cadastral survey, Hydrological studies, Hydrogeological investigations, ESIA scoping, Network studies including other project related roles.

I was a key member of the team which conducted the reinstatement of the surveillance program/ Dam safety at the Nyagak Dam facility.The Nyagak Dam is a mass concrete gravity 14m high hydraulic retaining structure with a headrace tunnel(conveyance hydrauic structure) I participated in the surveillance program which included activities of visual inspetions, instrumentation and some tests.I supervised data collection including triangulation surveys, concrete crack measurements and control, piezometry among othersI was also a team member in the over visual inspections Carried data analyses and reportingConducted safety trainings like on snake handling , work at height among others

I took part in the analysis on settlement behavior of raft foundation on clay soils due to deep excavations for Kisekka market. This also involved surface treatment of the blinded concrete with gas heated DPM for water seepage.
