I worked as a Software Engineer (RA) for the Hispanic Research Center and WAESO. I successfully migrated the WAESO web application and its services to the cloud from in-house servers (Python, Django, AWS, AWS CloudFormation, AWS EC2). I significantly contributed to improving the efficiency of making new changes or adding new features by creating a test suite that can be verified before pushing the changes live(Python, Django, Bash). I also leveraged containerization technologies, enabling smoother deployments in the future(Docker, Bash). I created a runbook for maintaining quick fixes for known issues and steps to set up a new environment(Wiki). This will greatly help new software engineers who take up the position in the future. Additionally, I abstracted out user identification and authorization from all websites(Python Django) and moved them to a separate service, allowing users of different websites to log in using a single WAESO credential.Along with the feature improvements for the WAESO project, I also contributed to analyzing and generating reports from the data(Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, seaborn). I had created visualizations to be published as proof of the positive impact the project had on students’ careers.

I created and contributed to the development of backend services crucial for running Cloud Game streaming sessions (Java, Guice, AWS EC2, Docker, AWS CDK). I made a significant contribution by helping my team set up image creation pipelines for automatic deployment of streaming instance images (AWS CDK, TypeScript, Java, EC2, Image Builder, LXD, DCV).I worked on creating an event-driven queuing system (Python, Node.js, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, AWS EC2, EBS, SQS) that intelligently queues game sessions and gaming instances for provisioning to customers in near real-time, reducing the session creation and instance provisioning wait times. I developed a monitoring application (Go) to track the smooth functioning of the game instance, the streaming service, and Android running in the gaming instance to collect key metrics and quickly fix issues as they arise.Luna - Streaming Instance Provisioning TeamI created a prototype (Go, AWS EC2, and AWS EBS) to reduce the load time of games running on the cloud by diving deep into the workings of Elastic Block Storage (EBS) volumes and EBS snapshots. I discovered the positive impact of pre-warming EBS volumes before using them. Pre-warming the EBS volumes reduced game load times by 50–90% for most games in the catalog.I developed a Volume Management Service (Java, Guice, AWS EC2, Docker, EC2 Load Balancer) that leverages this method to provision better-performing EBS volumes to PC gaming customers. Additionally, I implemented the Volume Queuing System (Node.js, AWS Lambda, SQS, EBS Volumes) for EBS volumes and integrated it with the game streaming predictions system.
