  • Spg
    Data Scientist
    Spg Sep 2018 - May 2019
Developed startup projects along with two other students in order to build a web application (R Shiny) for the Athletic Director of Athletic Communications (Wake Forest University). My team and I built a tool to aggregate and query through extensive amounts of data at lightning speeds. We communicated effectively with key stakeholders and WFU Football Athletics professionals to create a user-friendly, adaptable, and functional web application system that integrated all of the football team’s player data. I served as a Data Scientist on the team attempting to build a database in R using the vast amount of player data available from WFU. Managing records from games dating back to the 1800s, we scraped data from a variety of different formats such as XML, PDF, and Excel CSV files. Through extensive data manipulation and data quality management efforts, my team and I built a comprehensive database that integrated seamlessly with the web application.

Competed in the 2019 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Hackathon and placed as a finalist. Manipulated large amounts of data for the Women's Tennis Association in order to build a new Tier 3 statistic for competitiveness/grit of a player. Through large amounts of data manipulation and engineering, my team and I were able to hone in on specific, hidden insights within the large datasets. This allowed us to create a new way to measure player competitiveness to enhance the viewer experience and draw attention to less anticipated matchups. We measured and tested our metric using techniques such as regression, clustering/segmentation, and some other unsupervised learning techniques.

    Wilmington, Nc, Us
Modeling Displacement Due to Natural Disasters Using Differential Equations Modeled in MATLAB long-term fluctuations in carrying capacities of disaster struck populations with 97% accuracy. Developed a process to determine a system of non-linear, ordinary differential equations that described the movement of populations between two clusters and solved in Maple. Effectively relayed results to groups of faculty members in UNCW 2018 Research Showcase. Presented at the 2018 Math Association of America conference at Clemson University.
