Muhammad Abdullah is a Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist with over 15 years of experience. He holds an MSc and BSc in Civil Engineering from BUET and is affiliated with the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). He is a member of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (M-35299), the International Water Association (1619579), and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (17836). He is also a registered consultant with the Asian Development Bank (CMS Number: 204984).Mr. Abdullah has expertise in all phases of water supply projects, including project proposals, feasibility studies, master planning, water demand assessment, water source selection, and demarcation of District Metered Areas (DMAs) and Water Distribution Zones (WDZs).He has prepared hydraulic models using WaterGEMS, conducted detailed designs, and prepared cost estimates. His work includes financial and economic analysis, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, bid document preparation, and development project proforma (DPP). During implementation, he reviewed hydraulic issues, conducted commissioning works, and completed numerous hydraulic model calibrations for Dhaka DMAs, assessing system performance for operation and maintenance (O&M) and future planning. He has designed over 200 chlorinated water supply systems/DMAs/WDZs and has worked on several water treatment plants and sanitary sewer projects.Mr. Abdullah has contributed to the water supply sector in major cities like Dhaka, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Narayanganj, focusing on efficient water supply for low-income communities and development housing. His work spans urban, semi-urban, rural areas, coastal zones, the Chattogram Hill Tracts, and Rohingya camps.He has worked on projects funded by international agencies like the World Bank, ADB, New Development Bank, UNICEF, KfW, FCDO, AIIB, China Exim Bank, and AFD.Mr. Abdullah has enhanced his skills through training on Modelling of Water Hammer using MIKE+ by the Danish Hydraulic Institute and Water Management through Efficient Hydraulic Modelling by Bentley Systems. His international experience includes contributing to the Kathmandu water system in Nepal and the Metro Manila Water Supply System in the Philippines.Since 2015, he has served as a Guest Lecturer at BUET, teaching M.Sc. students about water supply engineering and design, focusing on practical insights into system operation and maintenance.He has numerous publications in reputable journals and conferences worldwide, highlighting his dedication to advancing the water supply and sanitation sector.
