I am a molecular entomologist specializing in the biodiversity and molecular genetics of pest insects and disease vectors. As a valuable member of the scientific research and international outreach team at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (CBG), University of Guelph, Canada, I actively contribute to the CBG and its broader global DNA barcoding initiative aimed at documenting all life on earth. My primary research focuses on the molecular identification of insects, as well as the utilization of DNA barcoding and metabarcoding techniques to support the development of a global DNA barcode reference library for insects.Following the completion of my Ph.D. in entomology at the University of Arkansas in the USA, I pursued postdoctoral fellowships in insect molecular biology for a period of five years at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Okayama University in Japan. Subsequently, I held the position of foreign faculty member at the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in Faisalabad, Pakistan for six years, during which time I established a new research program on insect molecular biology. Throughout these tenures, my research primarily focused on studying the genomics and genetics of pest insects, as well as exploring the relationships between crop pests and their natural enemies using molecular tools. I have made significant contributions to the scientific community through my involvement as a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Barcode of Life Project (iBOL), as well as my efforts in training students and researchers in DNA barcoding and DNA-based species identification. In my role as a graduate advisor, I have supervised thesis research in the field of insect molecular biology. My research has been widely recognized, with over 53 peer-reviewed journal articles published and active participation in scientific conferences worldwide.At present, I have the privilege of serving on the editorial boards and reviewer panels of several prestigious journals, through which I continue to exert a substantial influence on the field of molecular entomology. I am deeply committed to my work and have an unwavering dedication to making a constructive contribution to the scientific community.
