Starting in 2021, BHEUU's functions have expanded beyond the initial scope, as detailed in the Federal Government Ministers (No. 3) Order 2021 (P.U.(A) 383), which came into effect on October 8, 2021. In addition to its existing functions, BHEUU is responsible for serving as the lead agency for policy formulation and legislative administration not falling under the clear purview of any specific Ministry/Department. BHEUU also acts as a leading agency in domestic human rights issues and provides feedback and international reviews related to human rights and national legislative policies. During my internship, I was involved in assisting the process of Amendment, Abrogation, and Law Reform. I also had the opportunity to witness the registration of a foundation by a client, as BHEUU administers and coordinates the implementation of the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 [Act 258], including matters related to registration and monitoring of trustee corporations. I was also involved in the implementation of the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 [Act 711]. I participated in various legal conferences and had the chance to assist parliamentary coordinators while at the Malaysian Parliament.
