Construction and Quality Assurance:Construction supervision including QA/QC for a variety of civil, geotechnical and oil sands projects, including supervision for road and infrastructure construction, excavation, fill placement, instrument installation and monitoring, and testing as per project specifications. Monitored blasting operation in rocks, ensuring the rock cut slopes. Identification of the rock type to be used as a back-fill material. Quality Assurance (QA) for the construction of the water management area, tailing management area, as well as various dams surrounding the mine. Supervised the materials quality control, excavations, soil improvement, monitoring and review of the instrumentation program, placement of geotextile, geomembranes, wick drain installation, sheet piles and reinforced concrete.Managed and supervised several local geotechnical projects from initial stage to deliverable including, proposal writing, cost estimation for geotechnical field investigation, hiring subcontractor, coordination with all parties, executing field investigation, sampling for laboratory analysis, report writing with recommendations. Site Investigation and Coordination:Supervised and managed various geotechnical drilling programs (solid/hollow stems, coring, mud rotary, air rotary, sonic). It required managing multiple subcontractors along with coordination. Installed and monitored various types of instrumentation, including vibrating wire piezometers, standpipe and slope inclinometers and recording the instrument readings for the analysis. Coordinated meetings with all parties involved in the geotechnical investigation prior to commencement of work.Oil-sands onsite and Laboratory core logging:Conducted the core logging of overburden and McMurray formation. The activities included detailed core logging of soils for geotechnical and hydro-geological purposes in laboratory including noting changes in soil lithology, logging by depositional environment, collecting samples for laboratory analysis. Performed the analysis and description of slickensides and other soil characteristics applicable to geotechnical design. Design, Analysis and Reporting:Assisted senior engineers in the design and analysis of various foundations, rock slopes and retaining walls using the engineering software (gINT, GeoStudio, Dips, Lpile). Completed factual and geotechnical reports for local projects within the budgeted time frame. Provided recommendations for the deep and shallow foundations by using Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual.
