I am an electrical engineer interested in developing innovative medical devices and systems. My interest lies in using multidisciplinary tools to develop cutting edge solutions.I have 10+ years of experience in medical devices from concept development, prototyping, animal testing, and clinical testing. My core expertise is in the area of nanotechnology within electrical engineering. I have 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing and fabricating medical sensors using nanotechnology. I also have more than 10+ years of experience in developing mixed-mode (analog+digital) electronics platforms for unique wireless connectivity and healthcare applications. Owing to my multidisciplinary work and hands-on interests, I have practical experience in electrochemistry, embedded system design, PCB design, firmware development, software design, and mechanical design. I started my graduate research with a project focused on developing fundamentally new type of neural probes. Meanwhile, I also got involved in design of a microfluidic device for cell counting and beads based sensing. Soon after, I started looking into technologies for developing a miniaturized glucose sensor. I selected electrochemcial sensing for this and started developing different subsystems including the sensors, the control circuit, the telemetry subsystem and the test platforms for characterization of these subsystems. Since then, I have been working on improving this technology and making a clinically useful device for managing diabetes. This technology has now been validated extensively in lab and in animal studies. I am working to convert this into an approved product.I have also developed an affordable mechanical ventilator for people with breathing disorders. This device has been also been validated in humans. I am also working to convert it into an approved product. Both my projects came from personal inspiration. My mother is diabetic and this led me to develop the glucose sensor. My niece died in my arms due to lack of a Ventilator. This inspired me to develop one so no one else has to go through what our family went through.

FounderIntegrated Medical Sensors Inc. Aug 2015 - PresentIMS is based on my PhD research and Post-Doctoral work at Caltech. The company is bringing simple, user-friendly, analytical sensing products for personal health monitoring. As a first product, we have developed the world's smallest continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to decrease the burden of the diabetes pandemic. My role as a founder and CEO is to manage the company's technical and strategic direction. I am working with some of the smartest people to develop this solution that will reach millions in need.My technical responsibility is to use my knowledge of nanotechnology to optimize sensor design and fabrication. I am also responsible for the system-level integration of different technologies. During this work, I achieved the following:1. Develop system architecture and product roadmap by incorporating feedback from users, clinicians, regulatory experts, and manufacturing experts.2. Develop processes for sensor manufacturing using Semiconductor technologies 3. Develop a smart transmitter design4. Validate the system by rigorous testing 5. Manage funding plan to enable efficient execution of the commercialization plan
