Etihad Rail is mandated to manage the development, construction and operation of the UAE's national freight and passenger railway network. My role is centered in the financial control section in a senior reviewer capacity and I report directly to Finance Director. My responsibilities include:i) GL accounting and reporting:- Monthly closing including accruals, overheads capitalization, invoicing, inter-company confirmation, month-end adjustments, coordination with OPCOs etc.- Preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS for audit and coordination with auditors for completion of audit.- Preparation / review of reports for management, regulators and shareholders including monthly balance sheet reconciliation, monthly management report, data / reports for ADAA and State Auditors etc.- Preparation / review of Shareholder (ADQ) submissions including monthly trial balance, cash flow statement, quarterly budget forecast, quarterly group reporting pack etc.- Review of 5-years business plan, budget and re-forecast and reporting of actual spend vs budget, KPIs, etc.- Contribution to development of finance strategy and overseeing its implementation.- Preparation / review of accounting position papers for key business transactions.- Update and revision of policies and procedures including financial management & control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, corporate budgeting, fixed assets etc.- Review of finance risk and control matrix to ensure adherence to COSO framework.ii) Fixed assets management, reporting and governance:- Monitoring a system of controls and procedures whereby fixed assets are properly captured, classified and reported in respective financial statements.- Focal person for ongoing capitalization of project fixed assets.- Impairment testing including indicators assessment.iii) Corporate tax:- Finance lead for assessment and implementation of CT and transfer pricing regulations.
