The second-year undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial gave technical presentations on a scientific topic they are interested in.As a Year 12 student it was a unique opportunity to be their audience to experience what it’s like being a student studying STEM here at Imperial.Mechanical engineers create, manufacture and maintain the building blocks of the modern world – from cars and buildings through to aeroplanes and space stations. Mechanical engineering combines science, maths and computing with creativity and imagination, to solve problems and create solutions. In each 90-minute session, we heard six talks on a range of mechanical engineering topics and we had the chance to ask any questions we had. The sessions were running for six weeks during October to December:• Tuesdays 16.00-17.30 from 29 October to 3 December 2024• Thursdays 10.00-11.30 from 31 October to 5 December 2024It was a great opportunity for me to see what undergraduate students learn, get a feel for engineering and explore the South Kensington Campus.
