Myself and two high-school friends started SSM Tutoring this summer to tutor middle school and early high-school students in subjects such as Math, French, Chemistry, Physics, and English. With a passion for sharing information and teaching others, we found great success in this business, and have each accumulated multiple clients who we teach weekly.

As president of my school's debate club, I had to not only compete effectively, but also set a standard for the younger grades and lead them to success through my mentorship. As president, the efforts of myself and the rest of the staff grew our Google Classroom to have over 90 members. I learned how to work around tight deadlines when working with our supervisor to plan special events in the club. I was also often tasked with being a judge for the younger competitors of the club. This taught me to extract what they’re saying and turn it into feedback, ultimately leading them to become better debaters. This allowed our school to compete in more debate tournaments, as we built a name for ourselves in the debate world regionally.

As a general member of DECA, I competed in the Provincials tournament in February 2023 and 2024 as a Writtens member. While writing our report in 2023, one of our members left our group and moved schools. This led to us being a group of 2, facing off against many teams who were mostly groups of 3. Facing this challenge, my partner and I had to take on missed tasks that were assigned to our third member. With an increased workload, the most crucial step was communicating consistently with my partner and remaining calm in a stressful situation. Our hard work paid off, as we placed top 5 in our category.

I worked with company Flip and Floss as a co-op student to help improve their online marketing and help them reach a broader audience. I had plenty to learn from their experienced team. I could share what ideas I believed would help the company grow, and I really felt part of a team. I was surrounded by a supportive group of people, who were willing to help me reach my goals as well as the goals of the company.
