A privilege to be a part of this amazing organisation bringing Brunel and his world-shaping achievements to life and shared with the world. The Trust presents a story on so many levels, all of which excite me.Brunel is one of my heroes and 'Being Brunel' is just one super experience brought to the public at the Trust's Bristol Dockyard. Then it's a story of Bristol and the Southwest and its extraordinary place in global travel and trade (and there's that amazing bridge on the doorstep too!). It's a story of firsts in engineering and human achievement of which the SS Great Britain is a magnificent example of that - to see, touch, explore and immerse in what it would have been like onboard - oh and to host a party or dinner or a private function with a WOW factor. It's about an amazing archive of Brunel artifacts and his works open to public and professional researchers alike. And, most importantly for me, it's about inspiring young people to be interested in the creative art of designing and building things that improve the world - we need more engineers on this planet.Under wraps for now is a significant expansion of experiences as the Trust looks to expand the Bristol site and add very much more to understanding Brunel and his firsts while also keeping a contemporary working dockyard and its artisan skills alive. The SSGB Trust is all about Brunel, about British achievement and promoting that ethos for the future - oh, and there's a magnificent ship as well! Newton is a UK-based specialist in the strategic delivery of operational improvement, fuelled by a fundamental belief that even the best organisations can be better. I love Newton's distinctively different approach - from their uniquely data-driven, forensically detailed, digitally-enabled, systems methods of understanding and changing organisations, to their underpinning guarantee of their fees against delivering results.

UCL's Submarine Design Course is unique. It's the only, open and unclassified military submarine design course in the world. It's an enormous privilege to do a guest lecture and get into exciting debates with its always internationally diverse group of students. I talk about how (not) to buy a submarine and draw from three real-life case studies (one of which I lived through). And back in 1979, I lived through the course myself - as a student - it's got legs...
