A natural-born illustrator since birth with an academic background in product design and fine art, university qualifications with honours in Design and Art Direction, and professional experience in type design have all contributed toward my current practise of 'Visual Communication.'I was invited to explore the architecture of language and share my experience of bi-lingual type design in Arabic and Latin under the tutelage of two of the world's leading typographers and their typographic foundries, Bruno Maag at his Dalton Maag head office in London, Erik Spiekermann and FontShop International in Berlin.In the five years since, having launched my own independent practise, I have designed books for Bloomsbury, the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar, poetry collections for independent publishers in the United States and Palestine, headlined London’s premiere festival of Arab arts, Nour, [which I branded in 2012], and debuted a new 'Visual Statement' section in the 2015 re-design of Foreign Policy Magazine in Washington.I've also worked closely with Arts Council England, where I was invited to speak to the director general and national staff at their Westminster headquarters on Islamic art and culture, and subsequently was invited to brand a division of the organisation that has since become independent, the Arts and Islam.I am currently exploring the limits and legibility of visual language with a strong focus on Arabic and Latin, including semiotics, and the cultural impact and legacy they leave on the communities and countries they inhabit.
