Since 1996, I worked as a Husband/wife operated business where I was involved in the acquisition, disposition, and management of appx. 200,000 sf of commercial and residential real estate. While there I was also involved in the construction of several "ground up" owner/user projects (3), including a 12,000 sf office building in Calabasas, restaurant/music venues, (Backstage Jazz) as well as a 21,000 sq. ft. estate in Calabasas intended for my family to occupy. (I know,sounds crazy). I was also involved in the disposition of several owned multi-family buildings including an 18,000 sq.ft mixed-use office/retail property in Malibu, (Malibu Sands Shopping Ctr). During this time we were owner/operators of 2 restaurant/music venues, The Malibu Inn and The Vault350. While holding the real estate portfolio, we had an in-house property manager that handled the tasks associated with the day to day operations for all the buildings. In a nutshell, we had about 300 employees servicing many companies/business ventures. My focus has always been the real estate aspect of our ventures, buying/selling/managing/construction & remodeling as well as spending a lot of time overseeing the expenses using Quickbooks. My late husband worked on "income" and I worked on "outgo".
