I teach general education speech communication courses. These communication classes are either exclusively speech classes or hybrid classes that combine public speaking and interpersonal communication skills. Emphasis is on public speaking skills development through research, organization and effective delivery.

I serve as an online instructor for the Foundations of Health Communication to the corrections population at Ashland University. The course introduces students to the value of health communication at the individual, interpersonal, group, community, and national levels. The course humanizes health communication by helping students reflect on and interrogate diverse health communication situations when they are either a patient, a supportive loved-one, or a health care provider. The course makes vital connections between the science of health care and medicine and the intricacies of human interaction. Viewed as a transactional encounter, health communication is impacted by a variety of contexts and frameworks, including the biomedical, biopsychosocial, and sociocultural perspectives. In addition, health communication deals with issues of prevention, cost, treatment approaches, patient empowerment and global changes.
