Personal Goals: Under my educational program, RE:APPS. Research, Education for Awareness of Post Partum Syndromes:1) Finish "The Thieves That Stole Motherhood. My postpartum journey story from total despair to physical & spiritual recovery: 1972-1973 and 1977 through early 1981. 2) Work with communities & like-minded organizations to hold fund raising events and efforts to fund literacy projects (resource reading to libraries); support for the first full year, and to help monitor the treatment methods that work toward the reduction of long-term suffering and maternal morbidity. 3) Encourage medical consumers, male and female, to demand screenings for both the Thyroid and Pituitary glands when relating to experiences of depressed states of awareness and mood disorders.4) Request a *team-approach* to diagnosis and treatment by including Endocrinologists who will provide the baseline levels needed before pregnancy and after giving birth; monitoring endocrine health, especially of the pituitary, before mothers & their babies go home. 5) Business: The Write *Maternal* Image will provide a platform for women to raise their voices to demand those medical protocols and caregiver modalities needed to increase endocrine research and public awareness, decrease stigma and incorporate new postpartum strategies toward prevention of maternal mood disorders. Medical consumers will be the push needed - to demand education and the re-education, if need be, of all caregivers who are the "first line toward recovery". What is often not seen, not heard and/or not known by the patient could be a "silent red flag"; indicating the distinct possibility that a patient may have an unknown, past trauma and/or abuse history. Join me, and the efforts of RE_APPS, to help make concerted efforts in kind - to open the windows-of-change by "Thinking Big - By Starting Small", and doing so, with open hearts, minds and spirits.

Women, as the majority of medical consumers, need to demand that more intense research be done to change the long-standing "medical black hole" that continues to compromise postpartum health outcomes. Ask them, they'll tell you. New approaches to screening need to be explored, with or without skewed research studies that cannot show the "unknown" risk factors involved when new mothers go through postpartum psychosis that can occur with or without blues and/or depression. Unknown risk factors such as past trauma, rape, abuse, and incest that are held captive within a woman's sub-conscious portion of her brain, and as such, is not part of her medical history; the unknowns compromise both diagnosis and treatment. Society must demand to know why the United States of America is one of eight countries, seven being third-world countries, having the highest rates of maternal deaths in the world.
