My name is Muna Barreh, and I am a student at The University of Texas at Austin. I am pursuing a degree in Communications and a minor in Informatics, and have a planned graduation date of May 2026. I have a lot of passion surrounding collaboration and communication on a group level. My university career thus far has focused on this, with my being involved in developing and empowering my community with organizations like Students of East Africa or by volunteering at places like Casa Marianella. I am extremely passionate about fostering community engagement and team building, while also enhancing strategic thinking and problem solving.

Immersed in the Somali Health Ministry, I set out on a mission to assess the quality of health facilities in Somaliland's cities and villages. My responsibilities included performing extensive studies to identify major deficiencies in public health infrastructure. (June,July 2019 & June, July 2022)I put light on the stark reality by writing extensive reports: on average, only two public health facilities existed per city, with virtually none in rural. This discovery served as the foundation for data-driven decisions, opening the path for major infrastructure enhancements.Using my unique perspective as a Somali-American, I made realistic proposals to improve health-care institutions. These guidelines are based on international best practices, and they incorporate creative ideas into the roadmap for a healthy future.
