Prepare financial statements, reconciliations (including identify and communicate findings) and assist management to ensure appropriate internal controls and compliance procedures are in place and functioning.

This internship provided me the opportunity to work with various levels of management within the firm in preparing tax returns (domestic and international) and analyzing and calculating foreign currency transactions. In addition, I was provided exposure to the department’s internal review of processes and procedures stressing improvements in compliance and efficiencies.

In this position, which reported directly to management, I trained and managed over 10 staff members in the area of sales, front line service, and various merchandise areas. Duties included resolving customer service issues, ensuring prompt and courteous checkout through front line associates, auditing and approved frontline paperwork and managing open and close out procedures including preparation of appropriate management reports on both HR and financial resources.

This internship stressed exposure to overall management responsibilities and risks of the company. This included duties associated with creating financial models to effectively forecast cash flows, analyzing and modifying internal processes to increase productivity and profitability, preparing foreign currency and trading analysis, researching industry competitors by compiling portfolios for business comparisons, and creating master client lists with internal/external credit ratings (used to analyze credit ratings for banking partners).
