Amazon Live is a program that brings livestream shopping content into Amazon so that customers can get product advice and recommendations from their favorite influencers, experts, and celebrities. I built a cross-functional team, including product, engineering, UX, data science, marketing, business development, ad sales, video content production and studio operations. I led this team through several restarts and pivots, including launching and shuttering our first live video shopping program, Style Code Live. After this, we decided to democratize the production of video shopping by building the Amazon Live Creator app, which would allow anyone to stream their own shopping show. We launched this app in early 2019 to sellers and vendors on Amazon and then in 2020 to influencers. This was one of the first livestream shopping programs in the US and helped create the category, which Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and others have now entered. Top Amazon Livestreams have included product launches (Katy Perry shoes, J.Lo Beauty, Lady Gaga beauty, Mitsubishi auto), album launches (Imagine Dragons, Dua Lipa, Norah Jones), book launches (Dean Koontz, Neil Gaiman, David Baldacci + Michael Connelly), cooking shows (Carla Hall, Emeril Lagasse), fitness workouts (Melissa Wood health, Katie Austin), fashion (Tim Gunn, DVF, Vogue/CFDA), reality TV celebs (The Bachelor's Ashley Iaconetti, Real Housewives' Porsha Williams), and countless influencers. This strength in content drove 30%-50% month-over-month growth of key customer metrics throughout most of 2021. -

General Manager, Device Advertising ProductsAmazon Nov 2010 - Jan 2015Seattle, Wa, UsAs General Manager of Device Advertising Products with P&L responsibility, I built the organization from the ground up, including the product team, three engineering teams, and the ad operations team. Device Ad Products is the team responsible for monetizing the ad inventory on all Amazon-owned hardware devices, including Kindles, Fires, FireTVs, and more recently, Alexa devices and audio. My teams started by creating Kindle with Special Offers, which is a lower-priced version of Kindle that shows offers and advertisements on the screen where you unlock your device. I led the team to successfully launch Kindle with Special Offers on e-ink Kindles in May 2011, and on Kindle Fires in September 2012. Both products became the best-selling product on Amazon after their launch, outperforming the non-Special Offer versions of the devices. In 2013, we also launched an ad product on FireTV.My team worked closely with the sales team to build features, position and price device ad products for success in the market. We have seen strong sales traction, and delivered impressive year-over-year revenue growth, positioning this program as one of the key pillars of the advertising business at Amazon. -

Once the business was launched, I took the role of Software Development Manager and built three teams of engineers to deliver features to aggressively grow the business. One team focused on delivering features that improve the advertiser’s experience in listing their ads, the second team focused on delivering and displaying those ads to the Amazon.com customer, and the third team focused on optimizing the selection of ads to maximize revenue. All three teams ran on a monthly sprint, and were highly successful at delivering the committed features each sprint cycle. This ability to execute smoothly helped us hit our revenue targets and build a successful and rapidly-growing revenue stream for Amazon.These teams and their technology pivoted to form the initial foundation of Sponsored Products, which is now the engine of advertising growth at Amazon. -
