About Joshua Low

Results-focused M.Sc. candidate seeking opportunities in the healthcare and biotech sectors.Being the child of two Business-oriented parents, STEM was never on my radar growing up. However, they instilled in me the curiosity of life and the world around me; to always ask questions and if there is no answer, search for one. This lead me to take an interest in the Sciences as I got older for the main reason being that there are still so many questions left unanswered!Fast forward to my time pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biotechnology, I fell in love with Genetics and how simple organisms can help us learn more about ourselves and tackle problems that would otherwise have been unsolvable.This inspired me to delve more into the topic where today, I am an M.Sc candidate enrolled in the Accelerated B.Sc/M.Sc program in the Chin-Sang lab at Queen's University with a focus in Developmental Biology and Genetics. Throughout my program, I was fortunate enough to have supervisors who fostered a creative-thinking mindset which helped me develop the skills and knowledge to tackle problems from a variety of angles. It is not to assume that my journey did not come with several challenges. Some of these challenges made me doubt my ability as a researcher and some deterred me from further pursuing the Sciences. However, I see these challenges as a stepping-stone for my growth and development as a scientist and a future young professional. Overcoming these obstacles has allowed me to become a motivated individual who is results-focused and determined to approach new challenges with a fresh and creative mindset.
