A Fulbright scholar, I’m a seasoned professional in the social impact development sector. As an agile generalist with experience and expertise in multiple sectors and across different roles, I’m able to leverage this effectively to tailor my talents and skill set to meet my role’s needs at any given moment. Working in the impact space has been a consistent theme throughout my career. I gained my education sector experience through BRAC, the world's largest NGO, providing supplementary services to bridge any gaps in the country’s education provision, specially to reach the last mile. Over the years, projects to increase school enrolment rates have included piloting a low-cost informal education programme (subsequently rolled out nationally to become a social enterprise) and, latterly, the Boat School which addressed the challenge of executing education in a marshland area that is flooded for half of the year and the Bridge School to give children who’d dropped out a second chance. As an urban planning professional, my interest is in economic impact planning and development policy planning. Through my previous roles, I’ve become a skilled project manager, eventually leading multiple projects delivered simultaneously. As a Programme Manager at BRAC, I managed a portfolio with a budget of USD $30-50M. I’ve managed projects in urban migration, transportation, agriculture, and education. Working to ensure social justice for all has always been my passion. In 2020, I helped to establish ‘Swayong’, a platform campaigning to end social injustice through storytelling. During the Covid pandemic period we observed that violence against women drastically increased, and the media were religiously reporting the statistics, but that there seemed to be no tangible solution in sight. So, Swayong was developed as a storytelling platform to put the human face to the stats. Now with 12K+ followers on its FB page, it’s launched multiple projects and events, has 50+ activist volunteers, its own website, and a feminist and social justice network.In 2021, I joined Pearl Consulting as a Senior Associate. As the Program Manager for Bangladesh, I’m supporting a leading tech platform to drive their social impact programmes forward, around the pillars of economic impact and digital literacy/citizenship. The role combines my core skills of partnership brokering (working at the government level, as well as with local partners), capacity building and project managing, with my passion for social impact.
