About Murad Hatip Ph.D.
Dr. Hatip is a world-renowned historian and military scholar whose work focuses on the strategic context of ancient and modern Turkey in world affairs. In 1978, Dr. Hatip obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the Turkish Naval Academy in Istanbul. In 1990, he earned his Master’s Degree in International Relations and History from the Turkish Naval War College, where less than 5% of military officers with distinguished service and academic records are selected to attend. Following, Dr. Hatip completed the Advanced Command and Staff Course with the Joint Services Command and Staff College (Bracknell, UK). This elite college trains future commanders and staff officers of the UK Armed Services as well as international officers and scholars. He was awarded admission to this program by Turkish Army Headquarters due to his outstanding achievements. Simultaneously, Dr. Hatip earned an additional Master’s Degree in Defense Studies from King’s College of London University, one of the top 25 universities in the world and in 2013, he earned his PhD. from Hacettepe University, in Ankara, Turkey. Dr Hatip retired as a Commodore after 31 years in the Turkish Navy culminating as the Commanding Officer of the Turkish Naval Surface training Center, Golcuk, Turkey. Following his retirement from the Turkish Armed Forces, Dr. Hatip has lectured throughout the world; most recently at Stanford and Santa Clara University. He currently consults and lectures in Silicon Valley and Western Europe.
