Murat Sofuoğlu graduated from Law School at Istanbul University in 1996. He did his master degree on public policy at George Mason University (2004). Sofuoglu worked as Ekopolitik (Turkish NGO & think-tank) director for five years (2007-2011), developing and leading a number of projects on identity issues, political psychology, and conflict resolution. He has been one of the founders of Surec Research Center in 2012 and since then, he has led and advised several projects on social and political issues concerning Turkey and its surrounding regions. To name some of the projects he has involved, Common Tomorrow (Turkey and regional Issues), Turkey’s Grand Dome (Kurdish Question), “Invisible Enclave” (Northern Cyprus), and Mosul Vilayet (Northern Iraq). He joined with TRT World’s digital team in early 2015 and he is currently a staff writer there.
