About Justin Murdock

As a child I worked on my granddad's farm and developed a farm-raised work ethic that has consistently distinguished me as a high performing employee. My first career was in software development, working on everything from Javascript to SQL, and eventually working with big data, using technologies like AWS, Hadoop, and Ansible. At 19 years old I was mentoring Computer Science graduates how to code and grading their Nanodegree code project submissions while working for Udacity. After 5 years in software, a career switch and move to Idaho in 2018 allowed me to achieve a lifelong goal of learning how to build a house from the foundation to the roof, an homage to my granddad, my childhood, and the family farm. I started my own business and have gained a wealth of experience in project management, customer service, as well as the construction and carpentry trades.I've discovered that video work connects with me more deeply than anything I've ever done professionally. It combines my technical aptitude with my desire to work with my hands. I'm able to communicate with media and watch that message spread around the entire world. I'm able to make talented people be seen and bring opportunities to them. Great media content brings forth greater sales, opportunities, and status in the digital landscape. I've had a taste of success with my first few viral videos, and only need an intriguing subject matter to continue on my way to 1 billion+ career views

Listed skills include \_ _/, Php, Angularjs, Javascript, and 43 others.

Assistant Video Editor

Sendit Productions

* A very unique opportunity for someone with my set of skills, I was highly desired to be in the editing room of this company. Beyond the standard definition of computer savvy (having worked in data science and very advanced technologies), I was able to do many things the Executive Producer and Associate Producer did not know were possible* For graphics and motion graphics, within a day I was able to figure out Adobe AfterEffects Expressions which is essentially Javascript - in order to generate an entire set of graphics needed for their productions, motion graphics, and dynamic graphics which changed with time.* This company has produced the TV Show "Formula Drift" which airs 20 episodes per year on CBS Sports since 2011. They also started a new client during my time with them, with Mountain Mafia Entertainment LLC, and produced 6 episodes for "Mountain Mafia Mount Havoc" on Velocity channel. * Because of the new client they had no graphics from the years prior. Using Photoshop, AfterEffects, Premeire Pro and Final Cut I was able to create them brand new graphics for use in the show.* With organizing footage and clearing space on hard drives, my command lines skills made quick work of certain tasks.* For the Formula Drift episodes, I was responsible for the Editors cut of the Top 16 and Great 8 episodes. From there the associate producer would create the producers cut, and then the executive producer would finalize with the directors cut, and then we would deliver the final product. My work affected everything down the line.* My main role was as a video editor and assistant. During the weekend that we shot footage of the Mountain Mafia event, I was present on site and designated to be the leader of the GoPro team. We mounted GoPros to the monster trucks and around the course and it was my job to train the GoPro helpers and make sure we got good footage and returned with all our equipment.* Completed paperwork for the international broadcasts of the episodes

Team Guide, Project Reviewer (For Senior Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree)

Mountain View, California, Us

Team Guide* After graduating the Frontend Web Developer Nanodegree at Udacity, they hired me to lead teams of 12 students and guide weekly study sessions* Assisted with technical problems as needed.* Taught students tips and tricks for developing, debugging, and googling* Experienced a team leadership position in which I learned inspiring/motivating people is much more effective than solving for them whatever current issue they have. Project Reviewer (Senior Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree)* Graded student projects* Udacity rolled out its new Senior Front-End Web Developer nanodegree, and asked alumni to attempt the first project in the program. I was the first person to met this request and completed the project to their specifications start-to-finish within 24 hours, and with a passing submission. Here is that project: http://juliusakula.github.io/sr-front-end/* After being the first to complete that project, they hired me to grade other submissions as the nanodegree came online. As this was the first project to do in the program, I was the gatekeeper to the rest of the program making sure students had a good foundation before moving on to the rest of the Senior Front-End Developer program.* After giving feedback on student projects, I only ever received five star ratings for the input I gave them. 100+ reviews given and 20+ five star feedback for my reviews.* Direct contact with udacity students - ensured their project matched the specifications given.* Ensured students had adequate getting started instructions for build tools such as grunt, gulp, webpack; as well as pointing them in the right direction for documentation of frontend frameworks like AngularJS, Knockout, Backbone, Ember, React/Redux. Rather than giving them the answers, I showed them where and how to find the answers.* Encouraged students with positive feedback as much as 'this needs attention' notes. Kept a kind tone in my communication with students
