    • Managing eBay’s Java application foundation software team supporting brand new OSGi based application development product (Raptor) which remains as eBay’s primary app platform with 1600 applications in use today. Managed development of large-scale application configuration and metadata systems, as well as OSGi build tooling.• Piloted Google protocol buffers for our Search use case We seamlessly integrated protobuf with our JAXB serialization, a first such feat presented at JavaOne 2011. Reduced latency of typical Search calls in half (100 msec -> 50 msec), directly impacting Search time which has key eBay revenue linkage.• Rearchitected our Asset Repository system, replacing 20 person-year system in a 3 person-year project finishing on time in 2 calendar years with significant improvements in defect rate, maintenance hours, and vendor costs. • Managed local and remote teams in area of Services (SOA/REST), security, and Java foundation. Significant coordination with peer customer and architecture teams on major projects such as OAuth2 based security.• Platform Development lead in next gen API for eBay (“CommerceOS”). Architect and author of 4 of 20 current standards. These strongly influence the protocol signature of eBay’s CommerceOS services, which are about to launch in public in late 2016. Worked closely with Bangalore team for correct implementation of all 20 standards, with on-time delivery.• 2015 work on eBay-PayPal separation. Assessed portfolio ownership and managed KT; direct role in resource split; supported many critical legal and security issues relating to separation • 2015 work in security: application tightening, managing bot attacks, microsegmentation, role in security design of Control Plane services.

SOA Framework is a highly extensible framework supporting HTTP and local process binding with/without serialization; XML, name-value, JSON, and binary serialization; SOAP and alternate message protocols; large binary attachments; pipelined message processing; transport streaming; and many other features. Patents received and product later made open source.• PD lead in building eBay’s SOA ecosystem. Helped select and integrate enterprise service bus (ESB) supported by WSO2 (Apache Synapse). Helped select and build out an Asset Repository system (SOA software with extensive customization). Key lead in defining governance processes. Coordinated the implementation and integration of SOA monitoring for the NOC.• Co-architected a policy management and enforcement system for SOA, with authentication and authorization. XACML-based API; high performance custom RBAC authorization engine. Still in use today with many billions of calls daily. Policy Enforcement Service for early microservice-based approach to enforcement.

On-time transition with virtually 100% adoption and no registered customer complaints.• 2005, Development and product lead on eBay’s client SDKs for .NET and Java; 6 full and 6 point releases of each product during a 1 year period. Open sourced both SDKs. Presented open source strategy at 2006 eBay Developer Conference.
