I believe that innovation and adaptability are essential building blocks for breakthrough companies. I have the privilege of leading a remarkable organization that makes innovation and adaptability possible through our teams' curiosity, collaboration, and customer focus. Personally, I am curious, analytical, creative, collaborative, and action-oriented. While I sometimes joke that I'm a "recovering" investment banker, that experience early-on exposed me to a wide range of industries, business models, and management teams... the good, the bad, and the ugly. I came to recognize that the most successful companies all shared three things in common: innovation, adaptability, and consistency. This experience, combined with a few others that followed - an entrepreneurial venture, a rotation through a management development program, and a tour through corporate development at two publicly traded companies - provided me with an opportunity to test and apply what I had learned, and "eat my own cooking," as it were. First, I led the division of a consumer products company as its President, and later, became CEO when helping to spin-off that division into a new standalone publicly traded company, American Outdoor Brands (AOB).Since the spin-off in 2020, we've positioned AOB as an innovation company. Not coincidentally, our strategy is focused on innovation, adaptability, and consistency: "We leverage our innovation advantage to widen distribution, expand brand awareness, and increase profitability, while remaining agile and asset-light."
