I am currently in the role of chempac chemist. I go to clients throughout the whole of the south of England and assess their hazardous waste needs. This involves giving advice on the segregation and identification of hazardous waste. As well as the preparation for transport in both a compliant and safe manner.

Day to day running of the laboratory. Ensuring; incoming samples, stock and blends conform to what is expected without adulteration within the BRC regulatory framework. Answering customer queries and information needs and ensuring suppliers have the right documentation in place.

Senior scientist with responsibility for five analyses.Ensuring the running of these analyses in a timely and efficient manner. I carry out Analytical quality control reviews, Aquacheck investigations, Non-conforming work investigations, DWTS monitoring, answering internal and external customer queries and I clear all auditor non compliances.I organise the workload and analysts to maximise turnaround times. I have helped and overseen development of a new Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbon and glyphosate method for the laboratory.I deputise for the team leader and routinely help in planning and running the organics section.Involving management reports, sickness, team planning and interviewing and induction of new employees.I also looked after health and safety for the organics area and I was their first aider.

Worked in the method development team where in the course of my work I have learnt the operational use of a new type of LCQQQ that is new to the lab, both instrument and software. Developed a multi determinant method that passed UKAS accreditation without any non-compliances. Delivered the method into production, involving daily analysis of samples reporting and monitoring the performance of the instrument and results to set maintenance and quality standards.

Audited by UKAS on more than one occasion with a mention as to good competency. Trained staff on most of the above analysis. Secondment to Dutch lab for three months. Migrated and developed method for the measurement of gross Alpha and Beta radioactivity in potable waters. Developed and changed methods in accordance with audit recommendations. Worked on performance characteristics, written procedures, health and safety COSH assessments. I was actively involved in a lab migration from our Falmer lab and the performance testing and operational use of the methods migrated.
