The strategic role of Product Management is an important position within the organisation, and will involve close interaction with most other areas of the business to ensure that the role can besuccessfully performed.Responsible for the maintenance, management and development of a specific product portfolio .Maintain good relations with existing vendors and create strong relations with new vendors.Must ensure that all discussions with vendors achieve outcomes aligned with the strategic and tactical requirements across all levels of the organisation.Source new products with specific market needs and opportunities that complement the existing product portfolio, and then undertake all necessary preparation to successfully launch these products to market.Be responsible for managing the overall inventory levels for all products within the specified portfolio, by ensuring that an optimal stock level is maintained at all times. Design and implement market research projects to assess customer attitudes towards the current product range, competitor activity and potential new product / market opportunities.Oversee the creation of and updating of all marketing and technical material that relates to the specified product portfolio. This involves the preparation of both printed and electronic materials, and also encompasses distributing these via internal and external forums. Provide all necessary technical support to the Sales department to enable existing and new products within the portfolio to be sold in the most effective manner to allow the organisation achieve agreed sales and profit targets.Prepare and undertake product training for relevant sales staff on a regular basis.Develop and implement effective exit strategies when a product is no longer required as part of the product portfolio.

Joined Cornerstone Hardware Brokers as a Territory Manager in QLD in 1994 .Promoted to the position of State Sales Manager Western Australia in 1996 Developed relationships with the buyers from the nation major accounts Built a profit centre from ground zero with year on year sales increases in excess of 12% on previous year’s results Established a customer / client base and relevant support mechanismsIn recognition of my efforts I was rewarded for the highest incremental sales increases nationally .Promoted to the position of State Sales Manager Victoria / Tasmania in 1998 .Year on year sales increases of at least 10% on previous year’s sales results . Due to high levels of acceptance of my presentations at their national roadshows , Cornerstone was invited by John Danks to participate in two consecutive events consisting of 16 presentations to store owners and managers at venues nationally the first year and 20 the following year . Developed and was promoted to the National Key Accounts Manager role . Promoted to National Key Manager 2002 .Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with the individual buyers , senior management and sales managers of the major accounts within the hardware industry , namely Bunnings , Mitre 10 and John Danks & Sons ( now Metcash ) Together with product suppliers I negotiated , planned and instigated promotional campaigns with the major accounts that ultimately led to large increases in sales turnover . Presented new product ranges to the major accounts that were ultimately ranged on an ongoing basis .
