I established i-Luminosity in 2007, with the idea of disrupting a 125-year-old industry that had not changed how it serviced customers by selling through multiple channels and distributors.My concept was to be a direct sales service – from the factory to the end-user. This would cut the cost of the product by over 50%. Plus, we would give superior service since each one of our sales executives is in direct contact with the product factory. Back in 2007, no one knew what LED was! We were one of the first companies to be approved for rebates in New York, and that allowed us to get off the ground with Morton Williams, a 16-store chain that we continue to do all lighting for. We quickly went on to other retail chains including Grocery Outlet Stores, Costco, Home Depot and several of the biggest growing chains in the country. We also provide rebate services for which we have returned over a million dollars to our customers. As the industry grew, we found high end clients including many real estate developers, such as Treasure Island Self Storage – the initial project we did for them was an up-scale Art storage facility. When we first met, they had a plan quoted over $500,000 for the lighting and controls, we came in under $250,000 and have done all their projects since.At the Jet Blue terminal in JFK, we did their color changing tunnels, and as we grew we built a business with several architects including Richard Ian. We count several major contractors on our client list.We have access to the same factories as the biggest brands, and can get virtually any light fixture required, both basics and upper end. When we start with a new client, we bring samples so they can evaluate quality, and work hand-in-hand with their complete team, including on-site supervisors to be sure they get what they need. We are also a one-stop shop, so for those artsy beautiful fixtures that cannot be imitated that an architect or designer requires. We will supply the exact one specified at little profit. Why lose a whole project because of a couple of special items?Morton Williams once came to us with a magnificent $600 fixture that they needed 200 pieces of, we reproduced it and delivered it for $175.
