Provided site environmental support, industrial hygiene support, production support, analytical laboratory method development, and supervised 2-5 technicians in a site environmental laboratory. Utilized EPA, OSHA, and NIOSH methods in managing the environmental laboratory of a chemical plant. Familiar with DOT and EPA regulations. Performed analyses using gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) for component analysis and molecular weight information of monomers and polymers. Developed novel analyses for difficult or unique samples using GC, LC, and GPC techniques. Supported research and development efforts as well as troubleshooting pilot plant and plant production problems.Drove a multiple year project to upgrade the site analytical laboratory. Reduced the number of instruments needed in the laboratory through instrumental upgrade, new analytical method development, and the use of dual simultaneous analyses on new gas chromatographs.Participated in audits of the site environmental laboratory by the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection and the federal Environmental Protection Agency.Served as a Hazardous Materials Specialist for the site Emergency Response Team, providing technical supervision during emergency response incidents. Responded to over 4 dozen on-site and off-site incidents. Invited to become a member of the Louisville Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the Rubbertown Mutual Aid Association as a result of reputation earned in emergency response.
