I was enrolled into a 10 week Multi Service Trainee training course at the start of employment. This course provided me with the minimum standard training before entering the offshore division. The course included, an Introduction to the oilfield, Basic Coiled Tubing, Fluid Pumping, Nitrogen Pumping, Wireline as well as giving us the time to experience the practical side of operating, maintaining and repairing our specialist equipment. On completion of the course I was selected for the Coiled Tubing and Pumping Department, put through my BOSIET, MIST, Level 1 ISSOW (Integrated Safe Systems of Work) and COW (Control Of Work) then mobilised offshore shortly after. Throughout the first 7 months of being in the offshore field I mainly saw Fluid Pumping operations including, Pressure Testing Scale Squeezes, Chemical injection, Bull-heading and a couple of Nitrogen Pumping operations. These took place on Platforms and Light Intervention Vessels. Participating in different companies policies, procedures and permit systems gave me a good base of knowledge to work on.

Working as part of a team of mechanics maintaining and repairing a wide variation of vehicles. Ranging from M.A.N, Iveco, Volvo and Scania 34 tonne, 6 wheel rigid body gritters down to Kubota B series compact tractors including any implements mounted on these vehicles. I gained a lot of experience dealing with different drivetrains, hydraulic and electrical systems. The challenge of diagnosing faults then rectifying them kept the job interesting. I also did a bit of fabricating whilst in the workshop repairing bent framework and worn hopper bodies which gave me the chance to get to grips with grinders, gas cutting torches, welders and plasma cutters. I managed to complete my 4 year modern apprenticeship during my employment and gained a Level 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair with Distinction.
