In January 2012 I moved to the role of Company Secretary of Film Archives UK which, under my previous Chairmanship in 2011, was incorporated as a Limited Company (reg. no. 07760578) with Charity objects. FA UK brings together the curatorial staff of UK film and television archives (regional and national) that are established for public benefit. It meets four times a year, organises specialist meetings and screenings, prepares responses to Government consultations.

Work on an international oral history video archive project led by the UK.

Formerly CEO of the BUFVC, I later acted as occasional consultant for the organisation in the development of selected initiatives.

BUFVC is a members organisation, promoting the production study and use of moving image and sound in higher learning and research and delivering services to universities in the UK and abroad. During 21 years we developed a number of innovative services including the Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service, the British Universities Newsreel Database (now News on Screen), Newsfilm Online and Film and Sound Online (delivered via Jisc Media Hub), BoB - Box of Broadcasts, TRILT - Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching and collaborations with Bournemouth University to provide access to archive collections of independent radio (e.g. IRN/LBC and the Felicity Wells Memorial collection).

A collaboration between the Arts University College at Bournemouth and Bournemouth University Media School to bring industry engagement to support the screen and media disciplines taught at the partner institutions. Activities include: student clinics for projects and employment, masterclasses and one-off events for students and alumni - example Bournemouth Academy 3D Week (www.bsma.ac.uk/3dweek), screenings, additional specialist teaching and development initiatives including Academy Pictures.

I acted as Vice Chair of The Grierson Trust from 2001 until 2008 and then as Chairman for a two-year term until the end of 2009 when I handed over to Dawn Airey. I stepped down as Trustee in 2010.
