A background story about me as an introduction: I grew up developing a huge passion for downhill ski racing. First, there was the energizing element of it all - developing confidence in a high-speed, highly technical sport. And then there was developing the psychological balance - striving for my own individual performance, while having a strong interest in my teammates doing their best and having fun. This was the mindset that carried into my career - represented below in 3 stages.STAGE 1My first goal was securing my education - graduating with my first degree in Philosophy (biomedical ethics specialization). This path built out valuable core competencies, such as critical analysis and thinking, as well as debate and conflict resolution. In reflection, this path planted the seeds for my strengths in both strategic planning and sales psychology. Complementing this, I completed my MBA degree after having gained a breadth of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. That education developed new technical skillsets (Finance, Accounting, and Operation Management) and bolstered my strategic skillset.STAGE 2Transitioning to the pharma industry with a philosophy degree was not easy! Grit and great mentors made it happen. The sequential pharma career path that took shape was as follows: (1) primary care sales, (2) hospital/specialist sales, (3) marketing management, (4) sales management, and (5) government affairs. These roles geographically moved me from my roots in Edmonton, to Vancouver, then Toronto and - eventually - Calgary. They also allowed me to build out both my own professional selling skillset as well as coaching, developing and leading other professional salespeople.STAGE 3In recent years I challenged myself to broaden my skillset by strategically pivoting to related industries in the commercial healthcare space:1. Medical Cannabis,2. B2B healthcare services,3. SaaS and IoT (worker safety)Outside of my work life you will find me investing lots of time with family. Also, staying super active through downhill skiing, mountain biking, and wake surfing. And finally, discovering new music & new cultures through travelling satisfies the curious explorer in me.
