I provide resource navigation and services to over 300 Afghan asylum seekers in New York City. I co-draft/co-edit strategies, memos, and policy recommendations to engage elected officials, and government agencies such as US State Department, Department of Justice, USAID and the White House on issues regarding human rights, immigration, foreign policy, racial justice, and Islamophobia.I support grant research, grant writing, and program narratives to engage current and prospective stakeholders in the organization's work and to secure funding. I provided critical support for Afghan humanitarian parolees who were evacuated after August 2021.I advocated on behalf of my clients to receive culturally competent and trauma informed services from a variety of stakeholders including public school districts, health providers, and public assistance agencies.I secured housing for over 45 families, engaging with major corporations and property management companies to provide housing access to newly arrived families.
