My hobbies led me to the University of Nevada, Reno where I immersed myself into the earth sciences, achieving a BS degree in both Geology and Hydrogeology. After a few years and a few eye-opening experiences, I came to understand the nature of my values while developing a desire to care for others. This led me to a completely different career path in Nursing. I worked on a Neuroscience unit for 5.5 years, caring for stroke, seizure, and TBI patients. With a desire to stay at the bedside but explore different areas of nursing, I decided to make a switch to the Float Pool in 2022. This has allowed me to learn about and care for a wide variety of patients on units that include pediatrics/neonatal and postpartum, oncology, surgical, and telemetry. I have also gained experience in MRI and infusion services. While I can’t really see myself leaving the bedside at this time, I do have larger goals to work toward making changes in legislature. I believe there is so much that our healthcare system is lacking and I hope to help shape the future of preventative and holistic care.
