As a part of pursuing a certification in wine education, I was offered the opportunity to gain experience serving wine and educating customers in a high end wine bar. I was a customer there for a couple years and they asked me to work for them. It was a part time (mostly summer) job until the bar closed in December 2018. I completed my student teaching service with Summit Preparatory Charter High School of Redwood City, which was featured in the documentary movie "Waiting for Superman". I worked with two experienced teacher mentors in the Spanish Department. I was trained in Blaine Ray's "Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) Method" as well as a grammar based textbook approach. My experience helped me develop a repertoire of teaching strategies for language acquisition. I spent 'the best years of my life' and met some of the most wonderful people working at Alta. I helped create and evolve the curriculum for the Accredited Children's Educator (ACE) credential program, now known as CS (Children’s Specialist). I managed the education team which conducted ACE training for instructors. ACE is a professional development program for teachers of winter sports to children in the PSIA-Intermountain region -which was developed locally and adopted nationally by PSIA. I served as a Committee Chairman to the Board of Directors of PSIA-Intermountain for six years. I have served as an Editor and Technical Reviewer to "32 DEGREES", the professional periodical publication for PSIA since 2005 to current. Update: The program formerly known as ACE has recently been revised, and the credential is now called Children's Specialist (CS) and was adopted nationally by the Board of Directors of PSIA.
