Prof. Dr. Mustafa has been working for the Urban Regional Pleanning at Yıldız Technical University (YTU). Prior to his tenure at YTU, he taught in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Karadeniz Technical University between 1986 – 2015.His main research interests are in the Historical Gardens, Japaneese Gardens, Botanical Gardens, Landscape Planning, Ornemantal Woody Plants, Temperate Bamboos. He has been active in the academic as well as in the professional platforms. Mustafa has been working in the Landscape Architecture discipline for over 36 year in the countries like Turkey, Japan and China. In total, 169 of his projects were implemented, 156 of which he was the team leader. After the great earthquake in Turkey in 1999, he completed a project on the landscape planning for 40.000 houses with his 26-person-squad. He was awareded with Monbusho Scholarships twice which is a scholarhsip provided by the Japanese Government and it led him to stay there for 4,5 years. Following that, he was selected for the scholarship provided by the Ministry of Commerce from PRC and spent 3 months there. He has attended various international congresses and scientific meetings. He refereed for many scientific journals as well as published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has also organized various seminars and workshops as a partner of Okayama University, Japan. Apart from this, he has visited 33 counties to conduct research on 89 botanical gardens and arboretums.
