Mustafa Oran, Ph.D, Physicist, retired as the head of Melting Kinetics Management in ŞİŞECAM Science and Technology Centre on July, 2020. He worked in many R&D projects as a team member and project leader during his 32 years career in Şişecam. He has also a wide range of technological experiences in-situ troubleshooting works related to furnace operations. His main working fields are glass melting, fining, foaming, bubble dynamics, numerical analysis of glass defects and glass quality. He has given lectures in Sisecam Academy, M.Sc. program in Glass Science and Technology of Gebze Technical University and International Montpellier Summer School of International Commission on Glass (ICG), besides co-supervising several M.Sc. thesis. He has been leader, participant and even once panelist for the projects submitted to Scientific & Technological Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He was the chair person of TC 14 (Gases in Glass), which is one of the technical committees of ICG and co-author of “Fining/Refining Chapter” of ICG Road Map. He was a member of Balkan Steering Committee to establish Balkan Society of Glass Science & Technology. Dr. Oran’s scientific achievements on glass science & technology during his career have been presented in a number of national and international conferences, symposiums, seminars and workshops.He currently gives a 4th year course of Glass Science & Tecnology in Yeditepe University beside industrial training & consultancy.
