    MITTIC is a higher education spinoff challenge established to develop new ideas for commercialization by seeking concept papers from multidisciplinary student teams enrolled at a Minority Serving Institution (MSI). Teams choose one NASA Intellectual Property (IP) from a provided list and submit concept papers explaining commercial viability of the proposed idea using the MITTIC challenge guidelines. After competitive review, 10 teams are selected to participate in a “SpaceTank” competition at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The winning team of the competition will attend an onsite immersive experience at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California. The teams visit, tour and present to industry Silicon Valley technology companies, small businesses, NASA partners and leadership. The experience exposes participants to research facilities, start-up companies and provides the opportunity to discuss further concept development. MITTIC also provides selected MITTIC students to receive a paid NASA internship funded by MUREP.
