The project is the construction and operation of a greenfield complex crude oil refinery in Izmir region of Turkey with capacity to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day and has an estimated project cost of $5.3 billion. The refinery will be constructed over four years, and once operational it will produce significant amounts of ultra low-sulphur diesel (45% of production) and jet fuel (15%) to substitute the imports of these products into Turkey. Crude oil will be supplied by SOCAR based on a long-term supply contract. Most of the products will be sold domestically to retailers, 15-20% of products will be sold to PETKIM (Turkey’s sole petrochemicals producer) on long-term contract basis.
