With eight years of experience in civil and structural engineering, I have had the opportunity to manage and contribute to various impactful projects across Kenya. My career began with roles such as Construction Manager for mega projects, including the One Acre Fund Headquarters in Kakamega and the Startup Lion Campus in Loropio Turkana. Leading a team to erect the first Cross-Laminated Timber structure in Nairobi marked a significant milestone in my journey.My dedication to innovation and sustainability in construction is reflected in the research projects I've spearheaded. These include mock-ups for rammed earth walls in Kalama Conservancy, exploring the feasibility of vaulted roofs in Kilifi, and assessing the suitability of compressed earth blocks in Taita Taveta County.After two years of managing diverse construction and research projects, I transitioned to the design team to enhance my skills in design and construction. This period was crucial in my development, as I believe a proficient Civil and Structural Engineer should excel in both designing and making. During my four years with the design team, I developed a profound interest in timber design, driven by my commitment to sustainability and biophilic design principles.For the past one and a half years, I have been dedicated to designing The Rewildings, a timber project that aims to restore the balance between humans and nature by creating conservation-driven communities. Located in the heart of Tigoni’s historical tea fields and Indigenous forests, The Rewildings Tigoni is a residential and conservation development where natural ecosystems thrive.This project not only broadened my expertise in timber design but also made me proficient in Building Information Modelling (BIM), particularly using Revit to prepare detailed drawings for prefabrication. My deep involvement in The Rewildings project led to my current role as Project Manager, where I leverage the extensive knowledge and experience I have gained to ensure its successful execution.
