Research And Development
- Perform research and development on an EOS M280 laser powder bed fusion system
- Developed EOS quality-assurance system by integrating imaging sensors into inert gas environment build chamber
- Performed surface roughness analysis, literature reviews, and presented results in an organized fashion
- Regularly met with engineers, professors, and metallurgists from the field of laser processing to solve challenges
- Gained experience prepping, operating, calibrating, and trouble-shooting the EOS M280 and Fortus 400mc machines
- Familiar with developing parts for demanding applications and utilizing 3D printing to meet design criteria
Propulsion
Working side-by-side with the Additive Manufacturing team, I developed an apparatus and accompanying procedures for quality testing the raw material used in 3D printing flight critical components. These components are being implemented on all of the Falcon 9 launch vehicles and Crew Dragon capsules. I also took part in conducting a process chamber flow.
Additive Manufacturing Propulsion Lead
- Led task group in redesigning and further developing NASA’s Pencil thruster to be fabricated with additive manufacturing technology from an Inconel 718 high temperature/strength powdered metal alloy
- Testing, redesigning and additively manufacturing NASA’s attitude control Pencil thruster
- Created many conceptual design iterations and plastic/metal printed test parts of the thruster used to reduce costs and improve the quality and manufacturability of the first printed full metal version
- Printed metal parts to assemble three thrusters for testing and non-destructive analysis (XRCT)
- Hands-on experience constructing our high pressure bi-propellant rocket test stand plumbing, insulation, and structural components
Project Manager
- Led projects procuring and building extrusion 3D printers as well as polymer recycling devices
- Documented procedures with illustrations and step-by-step instructions on company wiki-site
- Taught underprivileged youth in the area how to use CAD/3D printing technology as part of our public outreach
Engineering Co-Op
- Analyzed and solved production problems to ensure continuous and efficient function of the main vehicle assembly line
- Designed and produced robust and ergonomic tooling components for assembly line operations
