Chief EducatorApplied Computing Foundation Feb 2020 - PresentSanta Clara, California, UsMaking wizards. The Applied Computing Foundation is a nonprofit educational outreach organization. We teach students how to master tech. while working on projects, and through that process, become masters of themselves.I teach my expertise, multiplying skills through others. I'm also a part of the brain-trust at the top, constantly reevaluating the organization, looking through a well-worn technical-teaching perspective, and orienting the company toward future initiatives. If you have a desire to teach technology, we should talk! -

I'm building things with small devices and XR that would help set the stage in a sci-fi movie, or that you might read about in a tech-news article. In addition to building the tech, I'm designing it with clients usually by way of rapid prototyping. I'm also assigning and managing tasks for a team, running meetings, assisting with hiring decisions, and managing others as little as needed. -

Professor Of Gsp (Games And Simulation Programming)Devry University Mar 2006 - Jan 2015Lisle, Illinois, UsI started working here as a part-time adjunct, and I loved it. My students really liked me, and DeVry ended up hiring me full time as a professor of Games and Simulation Programming.I really love teaching. It keeps me learning, gives me plenty of chances to continue writing high-quality software (mostly as examples for students), and gives me a connection to lots of students, who are actively involved in becoming better people through development of knowledge and skills.I'm making a real and positive difference in the lives of many students who are passionate about learning software development. I love showing students how to write interesting and complex software by example, in real time.Transitioned to a very part-time "Visiting Professor" October 2013 (after about 8 years). -
Software EngineerLimelife Aug 2006 - Apr 2008Menlo Park, Ca, UsI loved working at LimeLife. My co-workers were geniuses. We built effective technology that solved interesting problems (notably, writing tools to automatically translate J2ME games into BREW, to solve cross-platform programming). We had strong business practices and processes. It's really a shame that it was so hard to actually make money doing mobile application development before the iPhone took the market...Everyone at LimeLife was pleasant, professional, and fun to hang around. I still keep in touch with people I worked with there, and hope to work with them again in the future. At times, it really felt like a family. While I was there, I grew a lot as an engineer, and a team member. The engineering group built a lot of impressive tools and frameworks to make mobile game development not only bearable, but actually kinda fun, and even approaching easy.I love solving those kinds of problems, and working with intelligent, creative, responsible, forward-thinking people. -
Software Engineer / Game DeveloperInfospace Mobile Dec 2004 - Jul 2006UsThis was my first real job as a full-time game programmer. I did a lot of mobile-games-porting, and framework development for legacy and new products. Two products I developed there really stand out to me as being exceptional: a Vitrual Machine & Networking API for Hotties, which was a J2ME and BREW application; and a client/server content distribution system for Survivor, another J2ME game.I made a lot of great friends and contacts there, and grew a lot as a responsible and effective software engineer. -
Software Engineer / Game DeveloperAtlas Mobile Jul 2004 - Dec 2004This was my first job in the games industry. I was a poorly paid programming intern ;).My big job was porting legacy titles, which I did a LOT of. Probably more in those first few months than I did in the rest of my mobile software work experience combined... Something like 5 titles to something like 40 handsets. I learned BREW, fast.As soon as Atlas Mobile was acquired by Infospace Mobile, I was hired full-time. -
