As a researcher connected to the Professorship Rehabilitation and Technology (formerly Professorship Rehabilitation), I match education with R&D projects of Basalt Rehabilitation. We successfully run three living labs in the rehabilitation center where students, professionals, and external parties cooperate:• SmartLab - applying new technology in training within or complementary to therapy. • House of the Future - applying domotics in allowing patients to live safer and more independent.• Healthy Clinic - applying technology to help patients in adopting a sustainable healthy lifestyle during and after rehabilitation.

In the Centre of Expertise Human Kinetic Technology, we work on short- and long-term research and development projects for external partners with our students. Via the students’ work, we advocate the professional field for our unique education. We integrate external R&D activities with relevant learning experiences for our students in an expert supervised setting.

I did an internship at this company during my study 'Human Kinetic Technology'. I was asked to form standards and methods in objectively defining the mattrass performance as a decubitus prevention tool.The causes of decubites were researched and a prevention strategy was formed in order to define the mattress' performance. With a prototype of a measuring system the methodology was tested recommendations for further development were formulated.The company further developed on the theorie and methodology.
